Might be most overstated crabs ever. I gave this place 2 trys to be fair. Both times I had dry, overcooked and small crabs. Not what I wanted coming to a crab joint. I give two stars only cause the fried goods were tasty, the hush puppies were excellent.

Best crabs around! The all you can eat crabs were amazing. Debbie and Scott couldn't have been more accommodating. Definitely worth the trip!

We were regulars at the Tap Room when we lived in Delaware, but haven't been in years. Thought we would stop back to visit Chesapeake City, and have some crabs. We both had crabs, my wife ordered a dozen of the Jumbo garlic style. They were very large and full of meat. I went with the "all you can eat" and ate about 2 dozen. They were mostly #2s. Service was good, and our waitress was very attentive. Our main disappointment was that the crabs were not "Steamed to order", they had already been cooked, and were re-heated and served. My expectation is fresh cooked crabs. I do not want crabs that i have no idea when they were live, that morning, or 3 days ago. We will most likely be back, but I will check first to see if they will "steam fresh crabs" for me. There is a difference!

stopped for lunch while down at the Warbirds over Delaware show. When we entered, place was empty, save for one couple. That is usually a red flag for me. Waiters was friendly, service was timely but given we were the only group in there, does not say much. Ok ordered chowder and softshell crab sandwich. Friends ordered crabcake sandwiches. Food was OK but portions were small and expensive. Softshell was advertised as "whale" but there was no way that thing was a whale. Very disappointed as I heard it was a good place. Help ratings were off the mark, except for one. Won't be stopping or recommending the place in future.

I love it here!! The crabs are tasty and they offer "all you can eat crabs" everyday:) the owner is so nice. I crave the tap room everyday.

I've been here twice. The crabs are good (but expensive) but just about everything else we've had have been underwhelming. The first time there I ordered a softshell crab sandwich. The crab itself was very small, about half the size of the buns they used, so I ate mostly bread and lettuce. Not impressed. The last time there I ordered linguine with clams, and was presented with about 5 pounds of noodles in so-so sauce. My girlfriend ordered linguine with crab cakes in white sauce and was given the same hefty portion but in a watery and very garlicky soup, which we were told was the 'white sauce'. The crab cakes were alright but kind of mushy. I don't think I will be returning to this place a third time unless it is only for crabs.

*** I'm pretty sure this is the same place as the one listed on Bohemia Ave but everyone else seemed to only leave their reviews on this page instead... so just to be safe, here it is again :-) *** I'll admit we only ended up going here because it was a THREE HOUR wait for a table at Chesapeake Inn however it ended up working out even better! I honestly don't know why more "wait list" people hadn't figured it out & come here instead too. I was also drawn in by the name thinking there would be endless Belgian ales and micro brews on tap... I was mistaken. The service here was the best part, we were seated right away despite the mob scene down the street and our waitress was EXCELLENT. She was quick friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating (I wish I could remember her name) but if they read this we were the large happy group in the back last night :-) For the food I got the fried oyster sandwich and upgraded (not a stated option but no problem) to the coleslaw slaw and corn on the cob. The oysters despite having a chicken finger appearance tasted great! The corn on the cob was fantastic, it had some sort of old bay looking seasoning on it (probably had Old Bay in it but for all I knew it was straight up but it was excellent). I would have stuffed a few extra ears in my pockets except for the fact that the kitchen was closing by the time I asked since we were in there pretty late. They had a special house Ale on tap that Bud makes for them and while it certainly was no Dogfish Head, it was actually pretty decent. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals too There were only two downsides and they weren't THAT big of a deal. 1-The seafood entrees were kinda pricey across the board... not ridiculous but I wanted to try something with some steamed selections in it and even just clams alone I think was $18.00 and the combos were all $26-30. The sandwiches and apps were what I would consider normal prices for those types of items. It woulda been a plus to have maybe a smaller size steamed combo perhaps with some limitations so it could be offered a lower price. I just didn't want to be in for over $50.00 (with beers and tip) for just me for a casual dinner but I certainly would be up for trying those combos another time. 2- They do NOT accept any credit cards. Considering it's the year 2010 and cash is quickly starting to "Go the way of the Water Buffalo" it's just an expected thing to have at this point. It's like cars without power steering, they just don't exist anymore and it would be silly to sell a car without it. I totally understand AND sympathize with the fees the crappy banks charge and it's a P.I.T.A to deal with but it's a cost of doing business and a lot of people are starting to not carry cash as much, especially enough to try "Joe's Seafood Sampler". The silver lining to that is that they DO have an ATM right there in the building. It's just an unreliable variable that can break or run out of money, not to mention there's a fee to use it... C'mon son :-) Well I will definitely be going back and I could even see starting to go here more than CPI. Parking is better, seating time is VASTLY better and to be honest the "MTV Spring Break meets the cast of Cocoon" scene gets old after a while... and walking sideways is overrated. Besides, I don't even own a boat.

Crabcakes had way more filling then I would've wanted, but the mussels and spaghetti was pretty fanatic, as was the TapRoom Ale. Our platter of hardshells took forever and were way under seasoned, with the butter and crab vinegar coming out a good 10 mins later. I think I just had higher hopes, and we were a bit left down.

When touring the eastern shore, especially when your roots are connected to blue claw crabs, one must visit the Tap Room in Chesapeake City, MD, a beautiful restored colonial type town along the famous C and D canal (connects the Chesapeake Bay and Delaware River) We are in Crab Country, and I was looking forward to sharing the total experience with Westside Girl and my son Jake. The Tap Room looks like an old diner inside, long counter with red capped stools, checkerboard tablecloths and honey spurting waitresses. We started with crab vegtable soup, a tomato based deal with old bay flavor and tons of crab meat, off the charts good. Had to try the old bay fries, which I have been cooking for years, Jake woofed most of these on his own. Peggy tried a crab cake which completely blew us away with the amount of meat, hardly any filler, and was freshly made upon our arrival. But, after a 10 year drought I finally had my crab fix-a dozen medium blue claw crabs right out of the the steamer, cooked in beer and old bay seasoning. They were simply thrown on our table and I gave Peggy a quick lesson in good and bad body parts. Westside Girl was most impressed with the sweet flavor, spicy tastes, and only had one small cut for a rookie crab eater. After disecting a few crab bodies, she became a near expert on a skill I have always taken for face value since my parents were big crab eaters years ago. Impressive quality and one has to remember these endangered species are quite expensive. Worth the visit!

Excellent seafood. Highly recommend the crab cakes or peel your own shrimp. Good hardshell crabs when in season. Known for Italian dishes, but haven't tried those yet. Cash only. No non-smoking section. Located on 2nd between Bohemia Ave. and George Street.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
